Member Support Representative

Homer Electric Association (HEA) is a member-owned electric utility serving the central and southern areas of the Kenai Peninsula in Alaska. We are excited to be searching for a Member Support Representative to join the team. Member Support Representatives are our first line of contact with members of the community. They must be friendly and courteous with members on billing and account inquiries and provide information on a variety of subjects relating to membership, electric services, utilities regulations and tariffs.

This position will work in the Kenai HEA office location. The hours are Monday through Friday, 8 : 00 am 5 : 00 pm.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Accepts and processes applications either over the phone, in person or electronically for new and changed membership for electric service, initiate action on member connects, reconnects, change in service, and disconnect service orders.
  • Answer member inquiries regarding billing and collections and prepare accurate information for account corrections as needed.
  • Resolve billing and service complaints and refers grievances to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Performs or assist in the duties of the call center, cashier, bank deposit preparations and / or receptionist and back-office functions, as assigned.
  • Promotes new or additional utility services or programs and encourages the safe, efficient use of electricity.

Education & Experience

  • Two years of college level, or formal business education.
  • Two years of progressively responsible customer service experience.
  • In lieu of a degree, must have four (4) years of additional experience.
  • Required Skills, Abilities & Licenses

  • Actively looks for ways to assist consumer and conveys a "service attitude".
  • Ability to operate a computer keyboard and 10-key calculator with proficiency as required for processing applicant information.
  • Demonstrated adaptability using multiple software applications and learning new applications.
  • Ability to apply rational thinking to solve practical problems and to comprehend oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to handle consumer complaints, conduct follow through, settle disputes, and resolve conflicts or otherwise negotiate compromises.
