JOB DESCRIPTION :
Provide appropriate educational services to students determined by Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee as visually impaired.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES :
- To guide each student in developing a positive self-concept.
- To guide each student in developing problem solving skills appropriate to the student’s potential
- To write and implement the IEP as outlined by the ARD Committee.
- To maintain a positive relationship with student, parent and all school staff.
- Regular attendance.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Treat student as age appropriate for campus.
- Treat student with dignity and respect.
- Be consistent with Behavior Management System.
- Attend staff development activities and workshops related to assigned area.
- Maintain confidentiality on student information.
- Regular attendance
EXPERIENCE :
Experience as special education teacher. Training in specialized techniques for teaching students with visual impairments.QUALIFICATIONS :
Education / Certification :
BA or BS degree from an accredited universityHold valid Texas teacher certificationOne of the following certifications : (1) Deficient Vision; (2) Visually Handicapped; or (3) Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments Supplemental : Early Childhood-Grade 12Special Knowledge / Skills :
Demonstrates skills in positive classroom organization and management which will maximize instructional times.Demonstrates methods to work successfully with students of varying disabilities and learning abilities.Demonstrates skills in specialized techniques for working with visually impaired students.Demonstrates skills in assessing individual student competencies and to develop an appropriate IEPDemonstrates use of instructional strategies which will increase student achievement
