Permanent Cardiac Anesthesiologist – $575K Package + $50K Bonus | Mason City, IA

Location :  Mason City, Iowa

Schedule :  Full-Time | Weekday cardiac call + shared general weekend / holiday call

Setting :  Hospital-based + ASC | Level II Trauma Center

Position Highlights

Join a  growing cardiac surgery program  in North Central Iowa as a  Cardiac Anesthesiologist  within a progressive health system. Work alongside a  team of 7 Anesthesiologists and 12 CRNAs , providing services across a wide range of cases with  primary cardiac responsibilities  and general OR support.

Scope of Practice

Provide anesthesia for  cardiac, thoracic, vascular, neuro, ortho, OB, pediatric, and general  cases

Serve as  primary anesthesiologist  for cardiac surgeries; support general OR when no cardiac cases

Read, interpret, and bill for TEEs  –  probe placement only is not sufficient

Documentation :   Cerner  (transitioning to EPIC) + limited paper charting

Case volume : ~1 cardiac case / day (not daily), 5–7 general cases / day

8 ORs in simultaneous use

No pain clinic responsibilities

Call Expectations

Cardiac call :  Monday–Thursday

General call :  ~6 weekends / year + 1 holiday / year (shared)

Candidate Requirements   (All Required)

Board Certified / Eligible  in Anesthesiology

Cardiac Fellowship  or  TEE Certification  (must interpret, not just place probe)

Iowa medical license  or  IMLC eligibility  (must obtain prior to start)

IA CSR & DEA registration  – Required

BLS, ACLS, PALS certification  – Required

COVID-19 vaccination  – Required

H1B candidates accepted. J1 not accepted.

Compensation & Benefits

Total Comp Package :  $575,000 (includes salary + benefits)

Sign-On Bonus :  $50,000  (3-year commitment required)

Loan Repayment :  Up to $100,000

Relocation Allowance :  Up to $10,000

Malpractice Insurance :  Provided with  tail coverage

Health Insurance :  Premium-paid

Vacation :  8 weeks total (includes CME)

CME Allowance :  $10,000 + $2,500 medical allowance
