Job Title : Registered Nurse Profession : Nursing Specialty : Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Duration : 13 weeks Shift : Night Hours per Shift : 12 Experience : Minimum 2 years required License : Valid state license required Certifications : BLS, ACLS, NIH Must-Have : - Medical Intensive Care Unit experience - Surgical Intensive Care Unit experience - Ability to interpret and manage dysrhythmias - Experience in management of patients with multisystem organ dysfunction / failure - Skills in 12 lead EKG / ECG acquisition - Central Venous Pressure Monitoring (CVP) experience - Pulmonary Artery Line / Swan Ganz monitoring experience - Knowledge of chronic and acute renal failure - Arterial line management - Blood product administration - Central line care and management experience - PICC line management - Starting and maintaining IVs - Continuous IV sedation - Administration of emergency medications - Titration of cardiac drips - Titration of vasoactive drips - Experience in managing CVA / acute stroke - Assisting with BiPAP management - Care for ventilated patients - Interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs) - Experience with respiratory failure and suctioning (ETT, NT) - Ventilator management skills - Infection prevention practices - Isolation precautions and use of personal protective equipment (PPE) - Phlebotomy skills - Management of surgical wounds with drains / Wound Vac Description : Will accept 13 or 26 weeks contracts. 36 or 48 hours per week options available. The RN-ICU ratio is 1 : 2. First-time travelers are not accepted. Weekend work is required every other weekend. This position requires handling a variety of patient diagnoses, including respiratory failure, ARDS, acute chest pain, cardiac arrhythmias, stroke, cardiac arrest, DKA, multi-organ failure, and sepsis. The unit involves pre and post-operative care for cardiac, thoracic, and abdominal surgeries, medicine, neuro-medicine overflow, and pre and post-transplant care. Staffing will include diverse interdisciplinary support like physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, radiology, and social services. Daily care activities will involve the use of special equipment such as IV pumps, CRRT, dialysis, ventilators, and hemodynamic monitoring. Flexibility to float within the ICU service line may be required. Orientation and training are included to ensure readiness for the position.
