Looking for crafty volunteers who are interested in donating decorated cards of well-wishes, small drawings or paintings, small crocheted animals or dolls, etc. to our hospice patients as gifts for their birthdays and other special occasions. Hospice care is about living, so we want to make sure that we are celebrating the milestones with our hospice patients and celebrating them on those important dates!
When a patient is diagnosed with a life-limiting illness and given a life expectancy of 6 months or less, the patient and family may become overwhelmed with planning, emotions, questions, and fear. The Traditions Health hospice team provides support and guidance to patients and their families to address each of these needs throughout their end of life journey. We walk with the patient and their loved ones each step of the way, providing the education and care they need to have the best quality of life possible.
Our team is passionate about building relationships with our patients and their loved ones so that we know what matters most to them. Whether the need is physical, spiritual or emotional, our compassionate hospice experts are available to provide the necessary support. Comfort and dignity are the anchors of hospice care. Our clinicians are highly skilled at recognizing and managing symptoms early, in most cases allowing the patient to remain comfortable at home throughout the end of their life.
We are searching for those volunteers who like to create and maybe have a surplus of items that are taking over their space and need new homes : )
We are also searching for volunteers who sew and would like to donate pillowcases to our hospice made from surplus cloth they have lying around. These colorful pillowcases brighten up the hospital beds of our patients.
Additionally, we are searching for crafty volunteers who would assist in creating multiples of items for special events, like our annual memorial service. Materials would be provided for those special event items.
Volunteer time is flexible, and donated items can be made at home. Items can be dropped off at our office in Orange or arrangements for pick-up can be made by our team. Volunteers of all ages can participate in this opportunity, including groups and organizations. The patients and their families are always so thrilled and appreciative of the gifts. The thoughtfulness and love can be felt in these items, and they are truly treasured.
