Location

Hybrid - 1-2 days / week in our Roseville Office, during trainings, you may be required to work from multiple training locations including the metro area (i.e. Sabathani Community Center) and Greater MN (i.e. St. Cloud and Prairie Island Indian Community).

Join Our Dynamic Training & Education Workforce Team

We are looking for a Building Science Training to join our growing Training & Education Workforce Development team! This role will report to the Workforce Training Manager. The Workforce Development team is responsible for training workforce development participants and creating greater access to careers in energy efficiency. As a Building Science Training, you will assist in teaching building science principles classes and supervising trainees as they enter careers in energy efficiency.

What You'll Do

Building Science Training Instruction

  • Perform all tasks required for successful training facilitation including classroom prep and set-up.
  • Deliver building science instruction in a way that enhances trainees' learning experience using a variety of methods through PowerPoint, videos, industry-expert guest speakers, prop demonstrations, and hands-on practice.
  • Instruct students on the proper use of diagnostic equipment and tools used in energy audits such as a combustion analyzer, IR image scanner, manometer, and door blower.
  • Instruct students on equipment and tools used in insulation and air sealing work such as an insulation blower, caulk gun, foam gun, calibration tools, and the proper use of PPE and proper safety protocols on a jobsite.
  • Assess trainee knowledge through a variety of informal and formal assessments using a variety of methods based on trainees' learning styles. Ensure participant understanding and education needs are being met.
  • Collaborate with Workforce Development Staff and employer partners to inform curriculum development and continuously assess curriculum modules, objectives, and tasks that need to be refined or altered.

Supervision and Proctoring

  • Provide supervision of Workforce Trainees throughout on-the-job training (i.e., approve time sheets, communicate with Field Operations Manager, Field Trainers, or host contractors, and adjust scheduling as needed)
  • Provide coaching support and instructions to help trainees obtain an advanced certification (Building Analyst Technician (BA-T), Air Leakage Control Installer (ALCI), or EPA 608).
  • Proctor trainees for the Building Analyst Technician Certification.
  • Other duties as assigned or apparent.

    Skills & Knowledge We're Looking For

  • Ability to train diverse groups of people effectively in a classroom setting and working 1 : 1 with trainees
  • Effective communication and cultural competency skills, both written and verbal
  • Building science specific knowledge
  • Home energy auditing, insulation, and HVAC related technical skills
  • Computer skills(Microsoft office, Ceetrack, Skillcat, ect)
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Residential energy field experience; knowledgeable of weatherization and utilities-funded audits.
  • Ability to multi-task, work independently, and be adaptable to program changes and needs
  • Demonstrate patience and responsiveness to Workforce Program trainees and employer needs.
  • Ability to portray CEE in a positive light with potential partners with include community-based organizations, employers, and training institutions.
  • Possess BPI building analyst certification.
  • Possess BPI proctor certification (or ability to obtain).
  • Possess and maintain a valid drivers' license and good driving record.
  • Must be able to lift 40 pounds and work in tight spaces such as attics and crawlspaces.
  • Routinely use standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
  • Routinely use building science diagnostic equipment such as blower doors, duct blasters, combustion analyzers, infrared cameras, and hand tools.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Work may include occasional outstate travel including over-night stays.
  • Compensation

  • Dependent on qualifications and experience, we expect the pay range upon hire for this position will be $30-31.50 / hr
