As a Database Administrator, you will play a critical role in maintaining, optimizing, and securing enterprise database systems across SQL Server, Oracle, and PostgreSQL environments. You will support production operations, troubleshoot performance issues, enhance system reliability, and contribute to ongoing modernization efforts. This role blends hands-on administration, problem-solving, performance tuning, and direct support of mission-critical applications.
Your Role
- Testing and implementing custom off the shelf software
- Troubleshooting and fixing active directory, server and database performance issues
- Fixing security vulnerabilities related to server and databases
- Windows Server and Desktop administration.
- Create data reports with SQL Server or Oracle databases
- Production support for outages.
- SQL Query performance tuning
- Working with Extract, Transform and load data (ETL) software.
- Active participation in release and sprint planning, artifact creation, sprint testing, regression testing, demonstrations, retrospectives and solution releases
- Ensuring product quality and timeliness of work, providing advice and guidance, resolving problems to meet objectives, and providing periodic performance reports
- Developing new and refining existing processes to enhance quality and productivity
- Provide direct user support resolving technical and procedural issues, as well as other support tasks such as resetting passwords and unlocking user accounts.
- The ability to research, troubleshoot, and resolve SQL Server, Oracle and Windows issues found in production and development environments.
Requirements
Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to pass CBP background investigation, criteria will include :
3-year check for felony convictions.1-year check for illegal drug use.1-year check for misconduct such as theft or fraud.College degree (B.S.) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Management Systems or a related discipline. Equivalent professional experience will be considered in lieu of degree.Professional Experience : at least seven (7) years related Database and system administration experience.Local candidates must be available to work a hybrid schedule with on-site requirement in Ashburn, VA.Proficient with Windows servers administration.Experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle).Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).Experience with CI / CD pipelines and DevOps practices.AWS Cloud Database (RDS) experience, especially SQL Server and Oracle.Desired :
