About the Team

The Test Equipment Engineering (TEE) team, part of the Hardware Discipline Center, delivers test solutions supporting production lines across portfolio. Our software team develops advanced Windows applications that integrate with cutting-edge engineering systems used in labs, field environments, and production facilities.

We support all phases of the engineering lifecycle from early testing and design verification to production and sustainment.

Role Overview

We re seeking a Principal Software Engineer with 8+ years of experience (or 5+ years with an advanced STEM degree) to design, develop, integrate, and maintain software for on-site factory systems supporting weapon system development.

You ll work on multidiscipline teams to create engineering and production test environments, contributing across the full product lifecycle.

What You ll Do

Design and develop object-oriented software using C# and C++ in Microsoft Visual Studio on Windows OS

Troubleshoot software and test instrumentation issues

Manage multiple software engineering tasks and priorities

Collaborate in cross-functional engineering teams

Derive and implement software requirements

Mentor and lead junior engineers

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor s degree in STEM and 8+ years of experience, or an advanced degree with 5+ years of experience

Proficiency in C++, C#, Java, Python, or Visual Basic

Experience with Microsoft Visual Studio and Windows OS

Familiarity with lab test instrumentation (e.g., oscilloscopes, power supplies, multimeters)

U.S. citizenship and an active, transferable U.S. government security clearance

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of computer architecture and hardware optimization

Experience developing software drivers and working with protocols like TCP / IP, UDP, RS-422

Familiarity with UML for software design

Understanding of software development lifecycles (Agile, Waterfall)

Experience with configuration management tools (e.g., Azure DevOps, GitHub)

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Technical leadership experience
