Job Summary

The General Casualty Underwriter will be responsible for reviewing and analyzing underwriting data in order to determine if risks meet corporate underwriting standards calculate appropriate premium and determine proper terms for acceptable risks and respond to brokers when risks do not meet underwriting guidelines. Underwriters are also responsible for developing and maintaining profitable business relationships with brokers.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Analyze new business opportunities and develop renewal strategies
• Attain quote, premium and division goals as assigned
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers
• Use critical thinking and problem-solving skills to negotiate with brokers on placements
• Travel to meet with brokers within assigned territory at least three times per year
• Other duties as assigned
