Job description

DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Safely operate a dump truck in a manner that reduces risk and liabilities.
  • Ensure load weight is in compliance with State and Federal regulations.
  • Perform and properly document pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the truck and trailer to ensure they are in a safe and legal condition.
  • Maintain accurate records of trip details, including mileage, fuel consumption, and maintenance reports and hours worked.
  • Communicate effectively with project managers, equipment operators, and other team members to coordinate material transport and delivery schedules in a direct and friendly manner.
  • Always adhere to Emery Sapp & Sons safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform basic maintenance on the truck when necessary.
  • Extensive travel may be required.
  • Accurately navigate a dump truck using instructions, maps or GPS, to a wide variety of locations both on road and off.
  • Properly wear and safely use PPE.
  • Properly record hours worked using an ELD in compliance with Hours of Service regulations.
  • Days / Night Shifts

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Class B or A CDL
  • Valid DOT Med Cert with Non-Excepted Interstate self certification.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience operating dump trucks preferred.
  • Knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations and best practices for materials.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Basic mechanical skills for minor truck maintenance.
  • Willingness to travel to various job sites as needed.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to read, understand and navigate using paper and / or digital maps.
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time.
