DESCRIPTION
The Lead Registered Dietitian serves as an expert level Dietitian for the nutrition department within the Eating Disorders Center, with excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills and provides clinical supervision and support to team dietitians. The Lead Registered Dietitianconfers with dietitians, managers, and other treatment team professionals to coordinate medical and nutritional needs and recommend dietary interventions for patients. The Lead Registered Dietitian motivates and leads nutrition staff, including dietitians, diet techs, and interns, and mentors others to grow professionally and advance their knowledge and skills. Lead Registered Dietitian demonstrates in-depth knowledge of Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) and integrates evidence-based recommendations into practice, while demonstrating professionalism at all times and holds self and team members accountable for standards of practice. The Lead Registered Dietitian leads nutrition, clinical and food service staff to ensure optimum patient care, efficient operations, quality service, and regulatory compliance. The Lead Registered Dietitian possesses highly advanced clinical knowledge, which is applied systematically and continuously, to monitor patient data and improve quality patient outcomes. The Lead Registered Dietitian integrates research-based practices and practice guidelines, as established by nutrition specialty groups or other health care agencies, into educational and professional development activities.
Responsibilities include the assessment and implementation of nutrition strategies and initiatives to ensure evidence-based nutrition practice is promoted and provided across the continuum of care. May manage programs, specific to the dietary department, that include formulating strategies and administering policies, processes, and resources. Provides guidance, education, and training to staff and may be involved in the hiring and recruitment of new employees. Functions with a high degree of autonomy. Maintains professional growth and development through advanced certification(s), and professional affiliations, and organizational committees.
