Job descriptionMaster's or Doctoral degree from an accredited nurse practitioner program. Certification as an Oncology Nurse Practitioner (ONP). Experience in oncology care or a related field, preferred but not mandatory. Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a healthcare team. Proficiency in electronic medical record systems. Experience in outpatient and inpatient oncology settings. Knowledge of current oncology treatment protocols and procedures.
Oncology Nurse Practitioner Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough assessments and evaluations of patients with oncology conditions.
- Develop, implement, and modify treatment plans in collaboration with oncologists and other healthcare professionals.
- Monitor patient progress, manage side effects, and adjust care plans accordingly.
- Provide counseling and emotional support to patients and their families regarding diagnosis, treatment options, and prognosis.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests to inform treatment decisions.
