Physician Specialist – Hospitalist Per Diem

Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, is seeking a per diem Physician Specialist for the Department of Medicine at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. The role involves managing patients admitted to the hospitalist medicine service in collaboration with consultants and subspecialists at RWJUH, and coordinating care with the emergency room, obstetrics unit, and intensive care units.

Responsibilities

• Manage patients on the hospitalist medicine service.
• Collaborate with consultants and subspecialists at RWJUH.
• Work closely with emergency room, obstetrics unit, and intensive care unit physicians.
• Care for patients requiring acute inpatient level on medical‑surgical and intermediate care units.
• Assist with transitions of care back to ambulatory settings.
• Coordinate with surgical and medical oncology support staff, including advanced practice providers.

Salary Information

Minimum Salary : $64,100; Mid‑Range Salary : $224,985; Maximum Salary : $385,870.

Immunization Requirements

Under Policy 100.3.1, if employment commences during flu season, Rutgers may require proof of seasonal influenza vaccination. Failure to provide proof or obtain a medical or religious exemption may result in rescission of an offer or disciplinary action.
