Travel Nurse RN - Progressive Care Unit - $2,278 per week in Rapid City, SD

Job Title : Registered Nurse Profession : Nursing Specialty : Ortho Neuro Surgical Duration : 13 weeks Shift : 12 Hour Days Hours per Shift : 36 Experience : 1 year of nursing experience required; Intermediate / Stepdown Level RN. License : Registered Nurse licensed by the appropriate state board. Certifications : BLS, ACLS, NIHSS. Must-Have : Comfortability to take MedSurg assignments. EPIC experience. Previous experience with various patient types, including Intermediate Care / Stepdown acuity and Neuro. Ability to read and interpret cardiac strips and manage devices such as chest tubes, trach care, NGT tube placement, JP drains, and line management. Skills in wound care, medication administration, TPN / tube feeding, blood product transfusions, and drip titration of various medications. Description : This position is for a mixed acuity unit, which includes Intermediate Care, Telemetry, and MedSurg patients. The patient population includes surgical cases such as urology, orthopedic trauma, and neuro / spine surgeries. Experience with post-neuro interventions is preferred, but education and resources will be provided if necessary. General medical conditions treated include cellulitis, influenza, COVID, pneumonia, COPD, CHF, renal failure, and gastrointestinal disorders. Patient ratios are 1 : 4 for RN to PCU patients and 1 : 8 for CNAs. The unit is structured in pods, with 8 patients per pod staffed by 2 RNs and 1 Nurse Aide. Support is available from charge nurses and resource nurses. Travelers may float to any adult inpatient unit, such as MedSurg and Oncology, within their scope of practice. Scheduling includes 6-week schedules and may require working weekends. Holiday requests must be submitted prior to the offer, and time off is limited during specific blackout periods. Scrub color is navy blue. Monthly audits for pre / post pain scoring are conducted to ensure compliance.
