Must-Have : Valid driver's license required. Description : The Registered Nurse (RN) plans and provides comprehensive nursing care. This includes executing orders from Licensed Independent Providers. The RN dispenses and administers medications. The RN assists Licensed Independent Providers in examinations and treatment of patients. Nursing and supervisory techniques are applied in the care and treatment of residents. The RN performs all technical and clinical procedures within the scope of education and licensure. Appropriate nursing skills are applied in the treatment of residents. The RN attends sick call with the physician to see residents. The RN prepares a list of residents to be examined and prepares the examining room and equipment. The RN operates pill call, dispenses medication, and documents as required by policies and procedures. The RN contacts Licensed Independent Providers for medication and treatment orders and responds to emergencies. The RN examines and assesses new residents with illnesses or injuries. In cases of illness or injury, the RN refers residents to emergency care as necessary. Emergency procedures are performed as needed, notifying the Licensed Independent Provider for treatment orders. The RN assists in coordinating medical services provided by contract personnel. The RN schedules and monitors inpatient hospitalizations for early releases whenever appropriate. The RN provides guidance, supervision, and monitoring of nursing care provided by staff. A good working relationship is maintained with facility staff and outside provider agencies. Established policies and procedures are utilized in decision-making, while sound independent judgment is exercised. The provision of medical services is regularly evaluated to prevent inappropriate use or duplication of services. Absolute security and confidentiality of medical records are maintained. The RN assists in reviewing medical files to ensure all provided services are documented. Close monitoring of potential catastrophic illnesses is conducted. Pharmacy use is audited for adherence to formulary as required. Compliance with pharmacy laws, especially those covering controlled substances, is essential. The RN observes and records resident behavior. Inspections of the medical unit are performed for items that could be used as contraband. Health counseling and education are provided on an individual or group basis as required. The RN assists in preparing and maintaining standard records, reports, logs, and documents. The RN reads, analyzes, comprehends, and interprets medical and technical procedures, regulations, and legal documents. Responses to lawsuits are reviewed and processed, attending court hearings when necessary. The RN evaluates and recommends physical safety requirements for a safe working environment.
