As an Occupational Therapist (OT) , you will deliver direct therapy to students in Grades K-12 with special needs. Your responsibilities will include developing and implementing individualized instructional programs, conducting assessments, and adjusting Individualized Education Plan (IEP) goals as necessary.
Responsibilities Include :
- Implementing occupational therapy services as per each student’s IEP requirements.
- Completing assessment reports within required timelines to support educational planning.
- Communicating findings and recommendations to families, educators, students, and related agencies with proper consent.
- Planning and developing relevant therapeutic goals integrated into academic programs.
- Conducting ongoing reassessments and modifying therapy objectives based on student needs.
- Monitoring therapy implementation fidelity and training educational staff involved in therapy interventions.
- Documenting student progress accurately and in alignment with district standards.
- Participating in IEP meetings to provide data-informed insights and recommendations.
- Creating a supportive and developmentally appropriate learning environment tailored to each student's needs.
- Evaluating progress and determining readiness for transitioning or discontinuing therapy services.
- Facilitating professional development sessions for staff to enhance occupational therapy practices.
- Training school personnel on assistive technology and adaptive equipment.
- Engaging in all required team meetings and professional collaboration forums.
- Performing additional duties as needed to contribute to the success of the student services team.
Qualifications Required :
Master's degree in occupational therapy or a closely related field.Current state occupational therapy credential or in process of obtaining it.Ability to obtain and maintain certification in crisis management training.Prior experience in providing occupational therapy services in educational or behavioral health settings.Knowledge of special education services and compliance, particularly for students with diverse needs.Experience working with students with IEPs.Success in developing and implementing effective treatment plans.Proficient in motivating students towards achieving realistic goals.Ability to think and act calmly in emergencies.Skilled in building relationships with students, parents, and educational partners.Advanced communication, organization, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills.Familiarity with relevant technology, including Microsoft Office Suite.Spectrum Center Schools , part of ChanceLight Behavioral Health, Therapy, & Education , is the leading provider of alternative and special education programs.
