American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring recent PCU or Intermediate Care experience and a valid NY RN license.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in a mixed acuity Progressive Care Unit with medical-surgical telemetry and MS patientsPatient diagnoses include PCU, MS Tele, surgical (ENT, general, trauma, ortho), and overflow medical casesPatient ratios are 1 : 3-5 for day / weekend shifts and 1 : 3-6 for night shifts, adjusted by acuityShift schedule is 18 : 45-07 : 15 (nights), with options for 36 or 48 hours per weekEvery other weekend is requiredFloating required to sister units (West 2, West 3, and Observation)Unit utilizes EPIC for documentation, Pyxis, and SBAR for communication12 hours of orientation providedNo local candidates within 50 miles acceptedProvide advanced care for a diverse patient population, including surgical and medical telemetry casesMay encounter rare pediatric patients if experiencedTeam-based environment with support from sister units as neededRequired to wear any solid color scrubsMust list all requested time off at submission; maximum 7 days allowedFirst-time travelers are accepted for this position\n \n Requirements\n
Active NY RN license requiredMinimum 1 year of RN experience in PCU or Intermediate Care within the past 3 yearsCertifications required : ACLS, BLS, and NIHSSProficiency with telemetry monitoring, post-MI care, IV insulin protocols, feeding tube management, and continuous bladder irrigationExperience managing dysrhythmias, renal failure, ports, blood products, central / PICC lines, phlebotomy, and heparin protocolsAbility to interpret ABGs, manage non-invasive airway devices, tracheostomy, wound vacs, chest tubes, and isolation precautionsEpic EMR charting experience required or willingness to trainPALS and TCAR certifications preferred\n Benefits\n
