    Unit Overview : Join our 24-bed Neurosurgical Unit , where you'll care for a diverse and complex patient population, including :

  • Post-operative craniotomies for bleed evacuation, AVMs, and tumor resections.
  • Cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine surgeries.
  • Patients in the Comprehensive Stroke Program.
  • High volume of cervical and spinal surgery patients, along with medical overflow cases.
  • As part of the Aurora Neuroscience Innovation Institute (ANII) , you will gain exposure to the latest techniques and cutting-edge care.

  • Major Responsibilities :

  • Assess patient needs, plan individualized interventions, and evaluate care effectiveness.
  • Recognize significant changes in patients' conditions and adapt care plans accordingly.
  • Implement strategies to improve patient safety and reduce risks.
  • Coordinate discharge plans utilizing an interdisciplinary approach.
  • Evaluate patient outcomes and actively participate in shared governance initiatives.
  • Demonstrate effective communication and conflict resolution skills.
  • Foster a culture of safety by identifying and addressing potential issues.
  • Engage in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care experiences.

  • Licensure and Certifications Required :

  • Registered Nurse license in the state of practice.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by the American Heart Association.
  • Education Required :

  • Completion of an accredited nursing program.
  • Experience Required :

  • Typically requires 1 year of clinical nursing experience.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required :

  • Ability to provide holistic patient care with a family-centered focus.
  • Confidence in responding to unplanned clinical situations.
  • Proficient in electronic medical records and communication tools.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Strong decision-making, time management, and collaborative skills.
  • Physical Requirements :

  • Must be able to perform essential physical tasks including lifting, standing, and walking frequently.
  • Ability to lift and carry weights as required for patient care.
  • May be exposed to hazardous materials and must follow safety protocols.
