UNIX System Administrator (Sr. Unix Linux Engineer)

Position Title : UNIX Systems Administrator (Senior Linux Engineer)

Location : Boca Raton FL

Duration : 12 Months

Role Overview :

Provide operational support and maintenance for a large Linux estate (approximately 300 servers). The role focuses on Red Hat (RHEL 8 / 9) administration patch management automation performance tuning security vulnerability remediation and collaboration with IT and business stakeholders to ensure high availability and compliance.

Key Responsibilities :

Install configure and maintain Linux operating systems and related software.

Perform OS patching and remediate security vulnerabilities to meet compliance requirements.

Tune systems to application-specific requirements and support server migrations.

Monitor system performance troubleshoot issues and ensure high availability and reliability.

Develop and maintain automation (Ansible) and manage related platforms and tooling.

Provide on-call Unix / Linux support in a 24x7 environment and document work.

Required Skills & Experience :

RHEL Linux 8 / 9 administration and patch management.

Linux server builds and custom configuration experience.

Ansible playbook development and Ansible Automation Platform management.

SolarWinds monitoring experience.

VMware operational knowledge.

Strong TCP / IP networking knowledge and experience in firewalled environments.

Performance tuning experience for Oracle database servers.

Server security vulnerability management and remediation experience.

Minimum 10 years systems administration experience (as stated in source).

Preferred Skills :

Storage management basics.

Database administration basics.

Cloud integration basics.

Windows administration basics.

Veritas NetBackup management basics.

Familiarity with JBoss WebSphere Splunk HP ALM.
