Job description

Position : Geriatric Psychiatrist Senior Behavioral Health Unit

Location : Saranac Lake, NY

Start Date : ASAP (emergency privileges available for rapid start)

Duration : Ongoing

Assignment Type : Inpatient geriatric psychiatry

Schedule :

Onsite rounding : 8 : 00 AM 5 : 00 PM (1-hour unpaid lunch) flexible; typically

Nightly call : 5 : 00 PM 8 : 00 AM

Weekend call : Same as nightly, as scheduled

H&Ps performed by other physicians

Occasional consults on Med / Surg or ED floors (infrequent)

Patient Population & Census :

100% geriatric / senior behavioral health (ages 55+)

12-bed inpatient unit

Average daily census : 8 12 patients

Average patients seen daily : 8 12

Support & Resources :

Social workers and nurses onsite

Locum will be the sole psychiatrist for the unit

EMR : Meditech (training provided)

Dictation services available

Requirements :

Board Certified or Board Eligible Psychiatrist

Fellowship in Geriatric Psychiatry not required

Active NY license preferred (emergency privileges possible)

Credentialing :

Immediate start possible with emergency privileges
