In this position, you will supervise subordinate officers and ensure that all assigned duties are within compliance of policies, procedures, and regulations governing all aspects of care, custody, and control of inmates in an institutional setting. Your work will involve planning and assigning correctional officer duties, conducting inspections of all areas and completing reports, as well as conducting semi-annual and annual employee performance evaluations. As a supervisor, you will conduct interviews for prospective subordinate staff and provide training for new subordinate staff. Your duties will include planning and organizing inmate movements, ensuring that all major inmate movements and activities receive adequate supervision and control, and maintaining all necessary transport and movement records and reports. Additionally, you will monitor surveillance of the institution and participate in counseling inmates on problems associated with institutional adjustment. Interested in learning more? Work Schedule and Additional Information : Full-time employment. Selected applicant will work a 40-hour work week with rotating days off. This position is eligible for retirement benefits at age 50 or 55. Telework : You will not have the option to telework in this position. Required Experience, Training & Eligibility Qualifications : Minimum Experience and Training Requirements : One year as a Corrections Officer 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or Four years of experience in corrections security work in a Pennsylvania state or county corrections facility. (Note : Persons seeking employment under this option will be required to successfully complete, or have completed, a training program conducted by the Department of Corrections.) Other Requirements : Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required. PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title. You must be able to perform essential job functions. Legal Requirements : You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
