Stuart Country Day School of the Sacred Heart has an opening for a part-time PS-12 School Nurse. Stuart is located in Princeton, New Jersey and is an independent Catholic school for girls, with a co-educational environment in the Early Childhood and Junior Kindergarten grades.
The School Nurse coordinates a school health program including the delivery of services to students in order to enhance health and wellness in the school community. Decisions made by this employee require discretionary judgment and analysis. Duties will be performed in accordance with standards of professional school nurse practice.
Principal accountabilities :
- Administers basic health care for the purpose of providing appropriate care for ill and / or injured children. Creates and maintains documentation of all treatment and medical services administered, including recommendations for the student and family
- Confers with students, parents, and teachers regarding medical and referral treatment following confidentiality policies and regulations.
- Preps faculty to take students on field trips, providing appropriate training in the event that medical attention is needed (i.e. allergies, head injuries).
- Coordinates with local health agencies and medical treatment facilities as necessary.
- Provides other treatment as necessary.
- Administers the School's Blood-borne Pathogen Exposure Control Policy and Plan; provides ongoing training and keeps records as required.
- Maintains inventory of supplies and material as needed in the nurse's office; develops and monitors procedures for maintaining adequate supplies in all school first aid kits.
- Establishes and maintains medical and health services programs for the school.
- Partners with the school's health and wellness team in care of students' holistic well being.
- Maintains state-mandated student health forms.
- Responsible for all AEDs.
Skills & Requirements
Bachelor's DegreeCertified and Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in NJCertified in : CPR, first aid and AED'sState licensing requirements must be met and maintained (i.e. child abuse & infection control)Use a computer and various software applications, familiarity with the Magnus Health Management preferredAbility to use basic office equipmentAbility to communicate appropriately and effectively with all constituentsConsiderable knowledge of medical disorders and treatmentConsiderable knowledge of child growth and developmentWorking knowledge of public health issues and procedures for treatment in coordination with other health and social services agenciesWorking knowledge of Federal, State, and Local laws and regulations affecting the delivery of school health servicesAbility to coordinate and facilitate services between the school, local health agency, and other community resourcesDemonstrate a genuine interest in the student population and its health needsPrevious School Nurse experience preferred.
Required Education : 4 Year Degree
Salary hiring range is $31.25 to $38.46 per hour.
