Specialty trained heart nurses care for cardiac ICU patients. There is a significant need for care of other ICU patients. All travelers are expected to float between all facilities within the given state. Travelers' refusal to float may result in termination of assignment or forfeiture of guaranteed hours. Candidates must commit to working three of the five holidays, including Thanksgiving and Christmas-related holidays. Supervisory references covering one year within the last three years are required during the compliance process prior to start. Providers are expected to have experience in various advanced nursing skills necessary for critical care. Patients in the unit include adults and geriatrics. Daily census is approximately nine patients, with a patient ratio of 2 : 1 on nights and weekends. Interdisciplinary support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, and pharmacy. The unit caters to patients with a wide array of diagnoses requiring intensive monitoring and care. Special procedures and equipment used in the unit include continuous IV sedation and arterial line management, among others. Providers may be required to submit a cell phone bill for work-related communication use if a device is not provided by the client. Compliance with all submission requirements and background policies is mandatory prior to initiation of the assignment.
