The Tax Accountant plays a critical role in maintaining the financial integrity of the organization through accurate, compliant, and timely tax reporting. This position directly supports the company’s fiscal health and strategic decision-making by ensuring adherence to complex federal, state, and local tax regulations. As a key member of our collaborative tax team, the Tax Accountant contributes to process improvement, risk mitigation, and the company’s broader commitment to operational excellence and transparency.
Responsibilities
Prepare accurate and timely filings for corporate, partnership, and disregarded entity state and local income tax returns.
Prepare separate federal corporate and partnership income tax returns and associated informational filings.
Prepare, pay, and file quarterly tax estimates and extensions.
Retrieve, compile, and organize data from the general ledger and tax depreciation software for calculations such as state and local apportionment.
Maintain organized and complete tax records to ensure accessibility and compliance.
Research and analyze state and local income tax matters to support accurate tax filings.
Respond to income tax notices and inquiries from federal, state, and local authorities.
Assist with business license filings and renewals.
Support the preparation of monthly and quarterly sales and use tax returns.
Compile data and assist with annual 1099 reporting.
Respond to specialty tax notices and assist with state and local sales and use tax audits.
Provide support with international tax compliance as needed.
Partner with tax department leadership on process improvement initiatives to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
1+ years of relevant tax experience
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with other Microsoft Office applications.
Experience working with accounting and general ledger systems.
CPA license or active progress toward CPA certification strongly preferred.
