Street Maintenance Crew Leader

The City of Wichita is seeking a Street Maintenance Crew Leader. This position offers a salary range from $18.63 to $26.33 hourly and is located at 2901 E 33rd St N, KS. The job is full-time and is part of the Public Works and Utilities department, Division of PWU Street Maintenance.

Distinguishing Features of Work :

This is skilled work operating specialized automotive equipment. Work usually includes servicing and making minor repairs to equipment operated. This person may act as crew leader over a small number of employees to accomplish specific tasks or assignments. A supervisor gives general directions in routine tasks and special instructions when changes are made in established procedures. The day and hours for this position are Monday-Friday, 8 : 00am-4 : 30pm. Bargaining Unit : Service Employee's International (SEIU). Employees within the department or division shall be given first consideration. Posting may close at any time.

Examples of Work Performed :

• Operates tractors and trucks with special attached equipment such as power loaders, backhoes, winches, snow plows, and other attachments used for varied maintenance purposes.
• Operates special equipment used in pavement markings.
• Directs and participates in the operation of a hot asphalt plant.
• Operates equipment in performing street or airport maintenance work, such as rollers, oil distributors, loaders, pavement breakers, and screed machine.
• Operates a truck and leads a maintenance crew in maintaining, repairing and cleaning streets and airport surfaces.
• Performs mechanical maintenance and service work on equipment operated.
• May act as a backup operator or assistant to an Equipment Operator III.

Please note that this position is part of a random drug testing pool, and employees are subject to random drug testing in accordance with company policies and applicable laws. Starting pay for current City employees will be determined by City of Wichita policy or applicable bargaining unit agreement.
