Job Title : Registered Nurse Profession : RN Specialty : Med Surg Duration : 13 weeks Shift : 19 : 00-07 : 00 Hours per Shift : 12 Experience : Minimum 2 years of Med / Surg experience required License : Active nursing license in good standing, compact state license if applicable Certifications : BLS required, ACLS preferred, current NIH certification (must be certified annually) Must-Have : Telemetry experience Post-Percutaneous Coronary Intervention experience Description : This unit has 46 beds with a patient ratio of 6 : 1. Staff includes Clinical Nurse Coordinators, RNs, LPNs, PCTs, Nurse Externs, and Unit Clerks. Staffing is based on patient census. The unit is equipped with GE Apex Pro Telemetry boxes, Hoyer lifts, Sara Steady, Baxter IV pumps, iMobile, Alaris PCA IV pumps, Welch Allen Vitals machines, and glucometers. Documentation system used is Meditech Expanse. Scheduling requires working every other weekend and three 12-hour shifts per week. Floating may occur to post-surgical Med / Surg or tele overflow units. Provide excellent patient experience through general Med / Surg skills, EKG interpretation, CPap management, and port access. Advanced skills in chest tubes, NG tubes, wound vacs, drains, post-dialysis assessment, central lines, and blood transfusions are preferred. The unit performs telemetry monitoring and paracentesis. The dress code requires navy blue or gray scrubs, with restrictions on specific colors to ensure safety standards. Feedback from all staff, including contract staff, is welcomed to enhance workflow and patient care. The team is known for excellent teamwork and collaboration among providers. New equipment and supplies are continuously requested and received. Unit recognition includes nominations for excellence in patient care and staff celebrations. Staff communication is facilitated through GroupMe to share information and celebrate achievements.
