POSITION SUMMARY

This position is responsible for managing and improving all food safety and quality assurance activities and programs for the LKK site(s) in Georgia state to ensure product quality, food safety and compliance with US and target market regulatory standards.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Manage QA functions to ensure products comply with established quality standards (customer, LKK, certifications) and government regulations.
  • Manage HACCP program, FSMA Food Safety Plan and allergen / special ingredients control program.
  • Manage environmental monitoring program and coordinate with related functions to effectively implement sanitation and GMP programs.
  • Manage product release program, including Kosher, CDPH products.
  • Coordinate with all related functions and lead the auditing process conducted by third party auditors, customer auditors, and government food safety audits. Manage and maintain customer and LKK required certifications (GFSI, ISO 9001, GFCP, etc.)
  • Oversee plant operational team training program involving product quality and safety.
  • Manage customer and internal complaints handling program, and non-conformance products, including root cause investigation, corrective actions, verification of their effectiveness and trend analysis for continuous improvement.
  • Manage supplier approval program and conduct risk assessment. Coordinate audits as required.
  • Manage incoming inspection, WIP inspection and release, line inspection and finish product release program.
  • Supervise lab (physicochemical and microbial) testing and lab equipment maintenance program; ensure accurate and timely lab testing results.
  • Manage all quality and safety related policies and procedures and ensure all work according to applicable standards and regulations and monitor all quality metrics for Quality Assurance activities.
  • Manage and ensure control of non-conforming materials and products.
  • Maintain accurate records of quality control procedures, test and audits.
  • Responsible for planning QA resource needed to ensure successful quality management system and continuous improvement program.
  • Manage Pest Control Program
  • Coordinate internal audit programs
  • Coordinate mock recall and mass balance test.
  • Work together with production and engineering team to complete validation of equipment and test machines upon installation.
  • Work together with R&D to ensure compliance of FSVP for imported products for Lee Kum Kee (USA), Inc.
  • Other activities or projects assigned by direct supervisor, global QA or top management.
  • Responsible for on time monthly management KPI / BSC report for HQ.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This job has supervisory responsibilities for the quality team reporting directly or indirectly to this position.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactory. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and / or ability required.

EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's Degree in Food Science, Food microbiology or above in related disciplines, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years supervisory experience working in food manufacturing quality assurance.
  • Must be familiar with GMP, SSOP, GFSI (such as BRC, SQF) and FDA regulation.
  • Must have completed industry-recognized HACCP and / or Preventive Control Food Safety Plan training course.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001, fermentation is a plus.
  • LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Must be able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Must be able to write routine reports and correspondence. Must be able to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
  • Bilingual in English and Chinese is a plus.
  • MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

    Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ideal candidate must compute rates, ratios, and percentages and draw and interpret bar graphs. Analytical mind is required.

    REASONING ABILITY

    Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to read and comprehend equipment manuals and electrical diagrams for set-up control loops. Candidate must be able to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

    CERTIFICATES, LICENSE, REGISTRATIONS

    HACCP / PCQI, GFSI Scheme related trained certificates are required.
