Nurse Practitioner, General Surgery (36 hrs)

Position Summary / Department Summary :

Nurse Practitioner,General Surgery

Key Responsibilities :

Working with the 24 / 7 inpatient NP covered general surgery service including : solid organ transplant, general surgery, CAIR, colorectal, EAT, bariatric and trauma as well as consults on the Main campus.

Clinical leadership, assessment and collaborative management of inpatient surgical patients aged newborn to young adult. Includes : interpretation of diagnostic tests, performance of therapeutic procedures, quality improvement initiatives and clinical research activities.

Coordinating direct admission, timely discharge planning, consultations and participating in patient / family education in collaboration with the healthcare team.

Working 36 hours per week : 12-hour shifts, split evenly between day / night shifts, every 4

night weekend with the opportunity to advance weekend requirements over time.

This position is eligible to participate in the hospital new graduate 1 year APP fellowship.

Minimum Qualifications

Education :

Master's Degree in Nursing

Experience :

Will give preference to those with at least 1 year of current Pediatric Nurse Practitioner experience, will consider new-grad and newer NPs with pediatric RN experience, BCH experience strongly preferred.

Excellent organizational, communication, and computer skills required.

Licensure / Certifications :

A current license from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to practice as an Advanced Practice Nurse certification as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner PNP
