JOB SUMMARY :
Plans organizes and directs multiple complex utilities projects with the Capital Improvements Program for the Water Department under the supervision of the Manager of Capital Improvements.
SUMMARY :
The Utility Water / Wastewater engineer will assist with the implementation of water and wastewater projects under the supervision of the Director of Engineering Services.
Perform engineering duties on in-house projects of various sizes and types.
Lead and / or assist with the management of the design bidding construction and administration of projects associated with ACWWAs water and wastewater infrastructure.
Assist with programs such as asset management regulatory compliance and industrial pretreatment.
Work with other departments to resolve operational and engineering issues.
Coordinate with all departments as needed to successfully execute projects and to provide updates and reports to key stakeholders.
Work with consulting engineers contractors and other agencies to facilitate the successful completion of projects.
Assist in developing operational priorities goals and objectives.
Asist with development of capital improvement projects and negotiating agreements.
Requirements
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with project team members.
Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
Experience with relevant local state and federal regulations and special districts organizations.
Knowledge of current engineering design and construction principles and practices applicable to public utilities engineering projects
Experience with water treatment water distribution wastewater treatment and wastewater collection
Experience with construction administration and observation.
Experience with water and sewer system modeling software
Ability to define problems collect data establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to read analyze and interpret common scientific technical and legal documents.
Ability to respond to inquiries from customers regulatory agencies or members of the business community.
Ability to effectively present information to management public groups and boards of directors.
EDUCATION and SKILLS
1. Required : A bachelors degree from a recognized college or university with a major in civil engineering. Preference given to applicants with a bachelors degree in civil engineering from a 4-year ABET accredited college or university.
2. 1-5 years of experience in water / wastewater / civil engineering
3. Registered as a Professional Engineer in the State of Colorado or have the ability to obtain registration within 6 months.
4. Any combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities will be considered.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers phones photocopiers and fax machines.
The performance of this position may require exposure to construction areas which may require the use of personal protective equipment such as hard hat and safety glasses.

Engineer I-$72182-$112785
Engineer II-75.000- $118321
The pay range for this position is listed above. This pay range is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels for this position. In addition ACWWA considers several other factors when extending an offer including but not limited to the role function and associated responsibilities the candidates work experience education / training and key skills.
