Must-Have :

Candidates without these skills will not be considered for the role.

BLS, ACLS, & PALS are an absolute must.

NRP certification for NICU is required.

Two years of current acute care hospital RRT experience.

Description :

The NICU Respiratory Therapist provides treatment, care, and evaluation for patients with respiratory insufficiencies.

Candidates must be willing to float to the adult level III NICU.

Competence with high-frequency ventilators (JET) and oscillators is required.

The unit consists of 12 beds and typically has 5-8 staff members including a director and permanent staff.

Day shift includes a lead RRT and up to three RRTs, while night shift consists of an on-call team that varies based on volume.

Patient ratios are estimated at 1 : 1 and 2 : 1.

Typical equipment includes oxygen cylinders, nebulizers, suction machines, CPAP, and BiPAP machines.

The environment is fast-paced, requiring critical thinking and a patient care focus.

Ideal candidates are team players who work collaboratively with physicians.

Royal blue scrubs are required for respiratory therapy staff.
