The shift will be 4x10, meaning four 10-hour days. The hours will be from 07 : 00 to 17 : 30. The nurse will be responsible for patient care in a cardiovascular operating room setting. Call requirements include two overnight shifts per week. There is a weekend requirement of two shifts during the contract period. Holiday coverage will be required every other holiday as needed. The typical patient ratio during the day is 1 : 1. The patient population includes adolescents, adults, pediatrics, and geriatrics. Daily census in the unit is approximately 35 patients. The unit performs procedures related to open heart and thoracic surgeries. Independence and a proactive approach to patient care are essential. The nurse will be expected to float within the hospital based on census and needs. Required skills include proficiency in various surgical procedures such as CABG, valve replacements, and trauma surgeries.
