The Emergency Department is always ready to help patients and their families in their time of need and has met the stringent requirements set forth by the American College of Surgeons to become a verified Level II Trauma Center. This means Mercy Hospital’s Emergency Department is fully prepared to provide 24 / 7 critical care through immediate service, superior care, and peace of mind.
By joining the Emergency Department team at Mercy Hospital as an RN, you will deliver exceptional care throughout the patient care journey. In this role, you will interact directly with patients and their families, offering the opportunity to enhance their experience and provide healthcare education as needed. This is a busy department that handles a wide variety of cases each day, allowing you plenty of exposure and the chance to enhance your skills during each shift.

Our Center for Workplace Violence Prevention and Caregiver Well-Being sets caregiver safety as a priority, identifying, reporting and responding to incidents and providing safety resources.
A PRN caregiver in this position works varying shifts, which may include weekends and holidays.
A caregiver who excels in this role will :
Provide direct nursing care.
Implement and monitor patient care plans.
Monitor, record and communicate patients’ conditions.
Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include :
Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (ADN or BSN program)
Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross - willing to obtain within one year of employment
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross - willing to obtain within one year of employment
External applicants : two years of recent related nursing experience
Internal applicants with less than two years’ experience, but post orientation / 90-day probationary period could be considered with the Chief Nursing Officer level review and approval
Will consider military RN experience
Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC – adult) or Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC – pediatric) or willing to complete within 24 months of employment
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include :
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
Physical Requirements :
Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
Exposure to communicable diseases and / or body fluids.
Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and / or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and / or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
Personal Protective Equipment :
Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
Pay Range
Minimum hourly : $41.00
Maximum hourly : $41.00
