Description :

The position involves working in a busy Emergency Room setting.

The unit typically sees a wide variety of emergency cases.

Nurse-to-patient ratios are approximately 1 : 4 to 1 : 5.

Staff will be expected to handle a range of conditions as seen in typical emergency departments.

Common medication drips administered include vasopressors and anti-arrhythmics.

Collaboration occurs with both physicians and mid-level practitioners.

Charge nurses take patient assignments, while house supervisors are available 24 / 7.

Support staff may include nurse aides, EMTs, paramedics, and patient sitters, varying each day.

Respiratory therapists may not be present at all times but will perform necessary duties when available.

In the absence of respiratory therapy, RNs may need to set up ventilators and troubleshoot equipment.

RNs are responsible for reading their own telemetry strips.

The unit employs GE Carescape monitors for telemetry.

Transport for X-ray and CT scans is typically managed by designated staff.

RNs primarily perform lab draws, although some may be conducted by phlebotomy staff.

Scheduling is managed by the unit manager, with weekend and holiday shifts required.

Floating to support other units may occur on occasion.

Uniform attire is navy blue scrubs.

Comprehensive orientation is provided as per standard practices for incoming staff.
