About The Position

Must-Have : At least 2 years of experience

Description :

Client will not accept any candidates with license hits dealing with diverting medications or endangerment.

These hits will result in immediate contract cancellation.

The unit has 38 beds, which can max out to 42 with semi-private rooms.

Ratios are 1 : 4-5 for both days and nights.

Common diagnoses include all general surgery patients, appendectomies, fractures, GI, gynecology, vascular, etc.

RNs are not required to titrate drips.

Common titratable and / or set rate drips include heparin per protocol.

There is a charge nurse outside of staffing.

Patient care assistants are available on this unit with a ratio of 1 : 8-15 depending on staffing.

Patient care assistants are all trained to perform phlebotomy.

Respiratory therapy equipment includes CPAP and nasal cannula.

Tele monitoring is available with monitor techs.

RNs are not required to read strips but must recognize lethal rhythms and respond appropriately.

Shifts are 7-7 for both AM and PM.

Travelers will fill scheduling holes.

Weekend requirement is every other weekend.

There is no holiday requirement.

There is no call or standby requirement, but travelers may be put on standby if scheduled and not needed.

Travelers are the first to float and may float to other surgical or medical surgical units.

The need for team nursing in COVID medical units is rare.

Scrub color is royal blue.

Cancellation policy allows for 1 shift per 2-week period.

Charting is done using Epic Systems Corporation - EpicCare Inpatient - EMR.

A BSN is not required.

Required certifications include BLS and NIHSS.

CEUs for units requiring NIHSS are available.
