Utility Services Supervisor

Position Summary : A career in Utility Services will provide the opportunity to be responsible for all field work relating to utility management. This typically includes ensuring all meters, both residential and commercial, comply with state regulations. This role will require solid understanding of the processes, procedures and systems to produce high-quality work on fairly standard problems within the discipline. You will solve moderately complex problems and consider relative value of several alternative solutions to potential issues, before making a recommendation to the path forward. Additionally, you will use analytical skills and judgment to recommend a "best" solution. It is expected that your decisions will impact the quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of the department.

Roles and responsibilities include, but are not limited to :

  • Supervising day-to-day and long-range activities for a team of hourly and professional employees, both represented and non-represented
  • Prioritizing and assigning resources to ensure tasks are completed in a timely manner, and team, project goals and operational objectives are met in accordance with applicable regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Coordinating with other supervisors and teams to meet area work and output requirements
  • Provides coaching, training, and developing team members on task, skill proficiency and performance on a routine basis
  • Ensure regulatory compliance, accurate and timely meter reading for customer billing and scheduling objectives are met
  • Coordinate training and onboarding of new hires
  • Coordinate with schedulers and dispatchers to ensure adequate resource allocation and work order completion
  • Monitor budget variances and take action when / where needed
  • Supervise staff selection, development and retention. Establish and monitors work goals and objectives.
  • Follows organizational policies and procedures and ensures staff is in compliance.
  • Ensures compliance with local, state, federal regulations, company policies and procedures. Update manuals, records, and systems. Coordinates training for certifications.
  • Responds to customers' concerns (e.g., work to be performed, damages) via telephone and in person.
  • Participates in and facilitates the interviewing, hiring, and onboarding of new employees in partnership with HR.
  • Position may also assist in management of natural gas emergencies including damages to infrastructure, mass outages, fires, explosions, etc., and may work extended hours beyond normal business hours, including nights, weekends and holidays as needed, to include optional participation in an on-going on call duty rotation as needed.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • In addition, a minimum of 1 year of team lead / coaching experience is required.
  • Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

    Compensation Range : $84,000 - 134,400

    We are committed to pay transparency and ensuring equitability compensation for all employees. The pay range for this position reflects the base salary only and does not include benefits, bonuses, or other forms of compensation that might be part of the total compensation package. The specific salary offered will be based on a candidate's qualifications, education, and experience.
