Candidates must be experienced in handling a patient population ranging from adolescents to geriatrics. A strong focus on emergency medical situations, including trauma and acute illness, is essential. The department is busy with an average daily census of 165-175 patients. The staffing ratio is 1 nurse for every 4 patients. Nurses will be required to float occasionally, but this is rare. General skills required include IV management, triage, and emergency medication administration. Experience with procedures such as intubation, chest tube management, and patient sedation is beneficial. Candidates should be comfortable managing a range of clinical situations, from cardiac emergencies to mental health crises. The position requires availability to work designated major holidays. Compliance with all job requirements is necessary in order for the assignment to start on time. References from supervisory roles are preferred.
