Medical Dosimetrist - Radiation Therapy

Description

: A care giver with responsibility / accountability for radiation therapy dosimetry, accurately interpreting Radiation Oncologist’s prescription, calculating and planning radiation treatments by use of treatment planning computer or hand calculations; providing support and care for the patient by use of competent technical skills, problem solving and in cooperation with other health care team membersEducation : ▪ Required : Graduate of a medical dosimetry education program or on-the-job training with successful completion of the Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board ▪ Preferred : Graduate of an ARRT approved School of Radiation Therapy.

Experience : ▪ Preferred : 2 years dosimetry experience

Skills : ▪ Competent in radiation therapy dosimetry and all associated tasks necessary to accomplish the accurate set-up, planning and delivery of ionizing radiation therapy for optimum delivery of radiation therapy. ▪ Good documentation practices ▪ Strong initiative with work assignments ▪ Strong critical thinking / problem solving skills. ▪ Exhibits valuable time management skills

Licensure / Certification / Registration : ▪ Required : Certified by Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board, C.M.D. within 12 months of hire. ▪ Preferred : A.R.R.T.- R.T.(T).
