Highway Maintainer III

The State of New Hampshire, Department of Transportation, District 2, has a full-time vacancy for a Highway Maintainer III. The position offers trainee status at the following pay rate : $17.19 per hour. Candidates hired at a trainee status must meet minimum education / experience qualifications within one year of hire date. Earn up to a $5000 Winter Maintenance Incentive, half paid at the beginning of the November 2025 winter plowing season and the remainder paid at the end of the season March 2026.

Summary : Performs skilled year-round highway maintenance activities involving the operation and servicing of complex heavy equipment and machinery used for highway maintenance, construction activities, and for emergency traffic services. Supervises and reviews the work of entry level personnel and small work crews performing tasks or projects for the NH State Highway System.
