Unit Information : o Beds : 19 ? Cardiac post-procedural unit serving the Cath Lab and EP Lab ? Average daily census : Typically, 19 patients ? Average of patients per day : post procedural admissions 8-10 per day ? TAVRs are done on Mon / Wed only ? Unit is beginning a pilot program where they will be adding 4 beds and a PACU space at night, extending the unit up to 23 beds overnight ? Quick turnover o Minimum Years of Experience required? 2 years PCU RN o Will you accept a first-time traveler? Must have completed at least one 13-week assignment ? Patient Types / Common Diagnoses : o Procedural : TAVR, STEMI, Angioplasty, Stenting, Heart caths (venous and arterial femoral on occasion mostly radial bands), pacemaker insertion, Temporary Pacemakers, TR Bands, venous sheaths Arterial and venous sheaths will be given to perm staff o Overflow Cardiac patients : Heart failure, AFIB / RVR, SVT, chest pain, etc. ? Patient Ratios : o RN : Days : 1 : 3-4; Nights : 1 : 4-5 o CNA : 2 per shift; no CNA in PACU space ? Required License, National Certification, Certs (BLS, ACLS, etc.), or other position specific requirements such as Driver's License and / or Insurance : o BLS and ACLS are required ? Skills required : o EPIC required experience o General Cardiac Skillset : Cardiac rhythm interpretation, trach care, PIV / CVL / Midline management, chest tube management, BGT / DHT placement, drain / tube management (Dobhoff, PEG, G / J, Wound vacs, JP drains, flexiseals, foleys, PCA / PCEA pumps, arrythmia intervention / management, experience with TR bands is a MUST; experience with femoral sheaths preferred (sheaths will typically be given to perm staff) o Medication gtt management to include - Cardiac Drips (titrating and non-titrating), Heparin, Angiomax, Argatroban, blood products, IVF ? Support within the Department : o CNA will have 2 per shift (no tech in PACU space) o Receptionist / HUC on site 0830 until 2200 o Charge nurse, in staffing on Night shift o Phlebotomy peripheral blood draws only o IV / VAT Team o RT, 24 / 7 o Hospitalist, 24 / 7 o Intensivist, 24 / 7 o General Cardiology and APP overnight; Interventionist and Electrophysiologist on Days ? Will not (typically) work with Cardiac Surgeons o Telemetry monitoring / tech? No monitoring tech; nurses read monitors and respond ? Technology / Equipment : o EMR : EPIC required experience o IV Pump : Alaris pump o Med dispensing : Omnicell o Monitors : Phillips ?
