Job description

Join MasTec Civil as a Senior Heavy Civil Estimator and play a pivotal role in our commitment to building essential infrastructure projects!

If you have over 10 years of estimating experience and at least 3 years in the field, specifically in heavy civil construction related to roadways and bridges, we want to hear from you. You should be proficient in various contract delivery methods, including design-build and design-bid-build, and have experience working with NC / SCDOT, turnpike authorities, and other local entities.

Your Responsibilities :

  • Understand bid items and accurately identify errors and discrepancies in plans and specifications.
  • Read and analyze plans, specifications, proposals, and technical documents effectively.
  • Build comprehensive estimates, construction schedules, and risk assessments.
  • Create job budgets for awarded contracts and understand bid strategies.
  • Perform precise quantity takeoffs within designated timeframes.
  • Independently estimate entire projects and analyze estimating reports for key indicators.
  • Keep abreast of updated NC / SCDOT Standards and Specifications.
  • Lead estimating discussions and review bid submittal packages with company executives.
  • Communicate effectively with field personnel to track and adjust unit costs as necessary.

Qualifications :

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in Heavy Civil construction.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management.
  • Must be willing to relocate to Charlotte, NC.

    • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :

  • Strong work ethic and high integrity.
  • Excellent organization and communication skills.
  • In-depth understanding of bridge and roadway construction methods.
  • Familiar with local soil conditions, concrete structures, and safety standards.
  • Knowledgeable in design-bid-build and design-build contracts.
  • Ability to mentor and teach younger engineers.

    • Software Proficiency :

  • 30-Hour OSHA training.
  • Microsoft Office Suite.
  • P6 Primavera for scheduling.
  • Heavy Bid software by HCSS.
  • Vista Accounting software.
  • Bluebeam by REVU.
  • AutoCAD-Civil 3D and MicroStation.
  • AGTEK.
