Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an ICU position requiring strong neuro experience, EPIC proficiency, and a VA or compact RN license in hand.

Responsibilities

  • Work in the ICU caring for neurosurgical, respiratory failure, renal failure, post-surgical, trauma, sepsis, MODS, heart failure, and post-cardiac cath patients
  • Nurse-to-patient ratios range from 1 : 2 to 1 : 3
  • Patient populations include post-neurosurgical, post-stroke, and other critical care cases
  • Night shift position with 3x12 or 4x12 hour shifts, including every other weekend and holidays
  • Floating to Stepdown Unit, ED, or MedSurg to care for ICU patients being held may be required
  • EPIC EMR is used and proficiency is required
  • Responsibilities include managing complex neuro and critical care patients, including vent management and telemetry monitoring
  • Must be willing to float to other units to care for ICU patients
  • Holiday coverage required during contract
  • Three hours of pre-start modules required and must be completed before starting
  • Two professional references required for consideration
  • First-time travelers will be considered if all requirements are met
  • Time off requests must be submitted with application and will be considered case by case

    • Requirements

  • Active VA or compact RN license in hand at time of consideration
  • BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association required
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required
  • Strong neuro critical care experience, including post-neurosurgical, EVD, and stroke care, with experience in vents, IV drip titration, telemetry monitoring, conscious sedation, dysrhythmia, and emergency management
  • Three years of critical care experience preferred but strong candidates with less experience will be considered
  • Proficiency with EPIC EMR required
  • Must provide a valid driver's license for address verification
  • Candidates must live at least 50 miles from the facility
  • No prior license or background hits allowed
  • Must pass facility fit testing requirements without a PAPR and have no fit test issues
  • Must pass EKG testing (minimum 80%) with no remediation offered
