Greenhouse Support Lead

Full-time; weekend availability required. Starting pay : $17-20 / hr. depending on experience.

What You'll Do

As the Greenhouse Support Lead, you'll play a vital role in supporting both the growth of our plants and the development of our Greenhouse team. You'll help maintain a thriving, customer-centered environment while fostering teamwork and excellence every day. Leadership & Team Development

  • Partner with the Greenhouse Supervisor to plan for departmental success.
  • Lead by example to foster teamwork, accountability, and personal growth among Greenhouse employees.
  • Support a culture of positivity and collaboration that aligns with our Unifying Principles.
  • Coordinate and oversee daily workflow to ensure operational excellence and efficiency.
  • Step into leadership responsibilities when the Greenhouse Supervisor is unavailable.
  • Operational Responsibilities

  • Assist customers in selecting plants and gardening products that support their success and enjoyment.
  • Maintain a clean, well-stocked, and visually appealing Greenhouse that reflects our commitment to quality.
  • Ensure healthy plant growth through proper fertilization, pest management, and propagation.
  • Oversee the maintenance of Greenhouse equipment, including golf carts, filters, hoses, and fans.
  • Collaborate on creative plant displays and clear, engaging signage to enhance the shopping experience.
  • Organize and manage the Custom Potting Program with attention to detail and customer satisfaction.
  • Participate in receiving, processing, and stocking incoming product shipments.
  • Coordinate propagation schedules for consistent plant quality and availability.
  • Upon obtaining a Pesticide Applicator License, ensure accurate and safe pesticide applications in compliance with regulations.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support the Greenhouse and overall business success.
  • What You Bring

    Position Requirements :

  • Strong horticultural knowledge and passion for plant care and propagation.
  • Ability to identify and treat plant health issues, including pests and diseases.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills.
  • Leadership experience with the ability to guide and motivate a team.
  • Commitment to creating a positive and supportive environment for both customers and staff.
  • Flexibility to work full-time, including weekends.
  • Education and Experience :

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in greenhouse, horticulture, or retail garden operations preferred.
  • Previous experience in a supervisory or leadership role greatly preferred.
  • Pesticide Applicator License greatly preferred, or must be willing to obtain license.
  • Forklift operation experience preferred; training provided.
  • Bilingual skills are a plus.
  • Physical Requirements :

  • Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods throughout the day.
  • Work comfortably in indoor and outdoor environments in a variety of weather conditions.
  • Frequent interaction with customers and team members.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds repeatedly.
