Position Overview

Bicara Therapeutics Inc. is seeking a Senior Director of Accounting to join our team. This position is critical to the Company’s financial and operational success, partnering with our CFO and VP of Finance / Controller as Assistant Controller on strategic initiatives. We're looking for candidates with strong leadership skills who are resourceful and have a willingness to step into various accounting processes based on fluctuating business needs. This role is based in our Boston office and follows a hybrid schedule, with three in‑office days each week.

Responsibilities

• Partner with the CFO and VP of Finance on strategic initiatives, including SOX 404b implementation, commercial launch readiness, Audit Committee, and implementation of scalable systems to support commercial operations
• Lead the preparation and review of SEC filings (Form 10K) and quarterly (Form 10Q) financial statements and other SEC filings
• Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures
• Lead the preparation and review of technical accounting memos for complex accounting transactions
• Collaborate with other G&A teams to ensure relevant information is shared timely, including legal, IR and others as needed
• Build cross-company relationships with key business partners involved in significant accounting activities to ensure processes are effective and controls are sufficient
• Review corporate tax returns
• Prepare and review journal entries account reconciliations, accruals and other month end, quarter end and year end close process
• Supports the company’s financial objectives by providing financial analyses and recommendations
• Develop and design supporting schedules addressing estimates for certain accounting areas such as manufacturing and research and development
• Ensure compliance with US GAAP, SEC reporting, and internal control requirements
• Identify opportunities to streamline and improve the close and reporting process including evaluating systems enhancements
• Lead, mentor, and develop accounting team members
• Lead special project and ad hoc reporting as necessary
