PCU RN Job Details

Location : Fairfield, Ohio (zip code 45014) – Greater Cincinnati area

Healthcare Setting : Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Stepdown Unit (29 beds)

Employment Type : Travel Nursing Contract

Shift : 12-Hour Nights

Weekly Hours : 36

Assignment Length : 13 weeks (Start : 12 / 15 / 2025 – End : 3 / 14 / 2026)

Estimated Weekly Salary : $1680 - $1800

Patient Population : Stroke, Heart Failure, ETOH withdrawal, TIA, MedSurg, overdose

Registered Nurse Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio or compact state (required)

Minimum 1 year of recent RN experience (required)

6 months of acute care hospital experience (preferred)

BLS certification (required prior to direct patient care)

ACLS, CCRN, PCCN, and NIH Stroke Certification (preferred)

Experience with EPIC EHR and completion of Critical Care Course (preferred)

Ability to float and take call as needed

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

PCU RN Responsibilities

Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized nursing care plans

Administer medications and treatments safely in accordance with hospital and nursing standards

Coordinate patient care and communicate effectively with interdisciplinary healthcare teams and families

Manage care for patients with multi-system organ failure, stroke, heart failure, and substance withdrawal

Monitor patients requiring advanced respiratory support, cardiac drips, and hemodynamic monitoring

Respond promptly to changes in patient conditions and medical emergencies

Advocate for patients and collaborate with teams including spiritual and palliative care professionals

Educate patients and families on care plans, treatments, and coping strategies

Maintain professionalism, practice self-care, and participate in quality improvement initiatives
