American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU (CVPICU) role caring for critically ill pediatric cardiac patients in a leading unit, requiring a SC or compact RN license and 2 years of pediatric cardiac ICU experience.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Position is in a 29-bed Pediatric Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVPICU) within a hospital settingUnit is a gold Beacon Award-winning referral center for major pediatric cardiac surgery in South CarolinaTypical patient population includes children with congenital heart disease and those requiring cardiac surgery, VAD, heart transplant, cardiac catheterization, and other complex cardiac careAverage daily census is 26, with patients of any age based on care needsAssignments are 13 weeks in lengthShift is 3x12 hours on a rotating schedule, including both day (7a-7 : 30p) and night (7p-7 : 30a) shiftsRequired to work 4 weekend shifts within a 4-week schedule; holiday rotation requiredNurse-to-patient ratios are 1 : 1 or 1 : 2, based on acuityAll beds are monitored and utilize advanced therapies including ECMO and CRRTEpic is the charting system usedFloating within scope to meet unit needs is requiredCare for pediatric patients with complex cardiac surgical and medical diagnosesPerform advanced therapies including ventilatory and cardiac support, ECMO, CRRT, and pediatric palliative care as neededCollaborate with a multidisciplinary team including RNs, technicians, secretaries, respiratory therapy, pediatric dietitians, and pharmacistsHoliday coverage is part of the expectationBlock scheduling may be accommodated at manager’s discretionFirst-time travelers are accepted for this roleAll required pre-start training modules must be completed prior to assignment startTravel pairs are not accepted on this unitTravelers may only be submitted to one unit or campus at a timeDuring hurricane season (June-November), all employees may be assigned to emergency response teams\n \n Requirements\n
Active SC or compact RN license required at time of reporting; pending accepted if process is underwayMinimum 2 years' experience in pediatric cardiac ICU requiredPediatric cardiovascular and pediatric experience requiredVentricular Assist Device (VAD) experience highly preferredCurrent AHA BLS and PALS certifications required; ACLS preferred and must be AHAMust provide SSN and driver’s license for considerationExperience with Epic charting system preferredPrevious perm staff / PRN must be separated from health system for at least 1 year before returning as a travelerLocal candidates within 60 miles are accepted at a reduced rate\n Benefits\n
