Housing Program Administrator
Performs intermediate skilled administrative support work providing assistance in the administration of various housing programs, determining eligibility of program participants, maintaining records and files, preparing reports, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the close supervision of the Director of Housing.
Essential Functions
Typical Qualifications
Bachelor's degree with coursework in business administration, public administration, or related field and considerable experience administering human services delivery programs or case management including administrative support and office operations, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Commissioned as a Notary Public within six months of hire. Obtain Public Housing Manager certification within three years of hire. Valid driver's license in the State of North Carolina. Thorough knowledge of the rules and regulations governing a variety of Federal and State housing programs; general knowledge of community assistance agencies; general knowledge of the techniques and practices of case management; general knowledge of existing supportive services for low-income families; general knowledge of housing systems, components, and quality standards; general knowledge of real estate principles and practices; general knowledge of Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) rules and regulations that apply to assisted housing management; general knowledge of laws and standards that apply to property management such as Fair Housing Laws, OSHA Standards, Local and State Building Codes, etc.; general knowledge of basic office practices, procedures, and equipment; ability to conduct interviews and analyze problems objectively; ability to counsel clients on problems and to communicate ideas clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; ability to work with a diverse group of people; ability to maintain and monitor diverse case management load; ability to organize and present workshops and public presentations; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, landlords, vendors, health professionals, local and State agencies, associates, and the general public.
