Job descriptionInstalls, adjusts, troubleshoots, and maintains electrical, direct digital controls, and electronic / pneumatic / mechanical temperature control devices on HVAC / R systems. Conducts routine and preventive maintenance on HVAC / R equipment. Provides oversight on HVAC / R projects performed by outside contractors for code compliance, payments, design, and installation. Performs seasonal startup and shutdown of heating and air-conditioning plants and other related equipment. Reads and interprets schematic drawings and diagrams that pertain to HVAC systems. Operates and maintains the facility's multiple boiler rooms & appurtenances in a safe & efficient manner. Acts as an escort for contracted vendors on HVAC or other general maintenance issues. Maintains records through the AIM maintenance management software and orders spare parts. Plumbing includes the unplugging of sinks, toilets, and drains, and repairing or replacing the defective parts associated with the above. General maintenance to include snow removal, material handling, cleaning up, and contractor assistance. Supervises inmate crews to perform preventive boiler maintenance and other HVAC and general maintenance tasks. Tool control of shop equipment. Works around hazardous and / or toxic materials. Be able to work on-call on a rotating basis to include occasional night and weekend hours. Ensures adherence to all WDOC policies and procedures. Climbing on an occasional to regular basis Lifting / grasping up to 50 pounds without assistance regularly Walking / standing on cement floors regularly Walking up and down stairs regularly May work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions Balancing on an occasional basis Stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching regularly Crawling on an occasional basis Pushing / pulling / reaching regularly Speaking / hearing frequently Perform maintenance on equipment that may not be visible and would require being completed by feel or touch on an occasional basis The visual ability to operate machinery and perform mechanical or skilled trades duties The visual ability to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned Computer literate FLSA : Non-Exempt This position must pass a background / reference check. The Wyoming Department of Corrections is a Drug-Free Workplace. Per WDOC policy, all staff is subject to drug testing while employed by WDOC. Successful applicants for employment must pass a drug screen prior to the appointment. Job Title : Senior HVAC Specialist
The Wyoming State Penitentiary in Rawlins is seeking a Senior HVAC Specialist. This position diagnoses, repairs, and completes all the HVAC systems' preventive maintenance at the Wyoming State Penitentiary. This position will also perform general maintenance functions for all preventive maintenance and repairs needed at the facility.

Qualifications
Preference may be given to those with 3-4 years of progressive work experience in the HVAC field. Ability to obtain an EPA License. Knowledge of refrigeration cycle, refrigerants, air conditioning, and related air handling equipment. Knowledge of acceptable practices, methods, and tools used to install, maintain, and repair HVAC-R equipment.
Minimum qualifications :
Education : Bachelor's Degree
Experience : 0-1 year of progressive work experience (typically in HVAC) with acquired knowledge at the level of an HVAC Specialist OR 3-4 years of progressive work experience (typically in HVAC) with acquired knowledge at the level of an HVAC Specialist
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations : Agency may require an EPA License.
