Job description

Director of Research, Development & Engineering

The Director of R&D Engineering is a hands-on leadership role responsible for overseeing all research, development, and sustaining engineering activities. This includes advancing innovative aesthetic skin technologies, refining core platform capabilities, and guiding product development from concept through post-launch support. The role collaborates closely with cross-functional teams in commercial, regulatory, clinical, operations, and supply chain, and oversees design transfer from R&D to manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Lead and direct mechanical, hardware, and software engineering efforts to deliver high-quality, innovative medical devices.
  • Manage and develop a high-performing engineering team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with marketing to develop a robust product pipeline and long-term strategy for emerging technologies.
  • Drive R&D efforts for both current product lines and early-stage innovations.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive test and verification plans for new and updated products.
  • Collaborate with regulatory and clinical teams to support product and indication strategies.
  • Provide sustaining engineering support for products already in the market.
  • Ensure the successful execution of strategic and operational goals, including product development milestones and organizational growth initiatives.
  • Represent the engineering function with internal and external stakeholders, including key opinion leaders (KOLs).
  • Promote a culture of engineering excellence with a strong focus on electromechanical systems and cross-disciplinary innovation.

Qualifications :

  • Minimum 12 years of experience in R&D and / or engineering, with at least 5 years in the medical device industry.
  • Proven track record of leadership in medical device development.
  • Strong ability to lead in a matrixed environment and collaborate across departments.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with experience interacting at all organizational levels and with external regulatory bodies.
  • Demonstrated success in product development, launches, and driving innovation.
  • Preferred Qualifications :

  • Advanced degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Biomedical Engineering.
  • Experience with Class II / Class III medical devices.
