Description
The Rossoll Labat Mayo Clinic Floridais recruiting a Postdoctoral Fellowto join an NIH-funded project exploring the molecular chaperone functions of nuclear-import receptor proteins (importins)in frontotemporal dementia (FTD)and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Our goal is to understand how importin act as chaperons to regulate TDP-43 phase behavior nuclear import and toxicity and how these mechanisms can be harnessed to design therapeutic strategies for TDP-43 proteinopathies.
We use a multidisciplinary approach combining molecular and cell biology advanced fluorescence microscopy proteomics and mouse modelsof neurodegenerative disease to uncover how importin-mediated pathways maintain neuronal proteostasis.
The position offers an opportunity to work in a highly interactive neuroscience community at Mayo Clinic Florida with access to world-class facilities and other resources including the brain bank.
A Research Fellow position in Life Sciences (LS) will require knowledge of either clinical-based research or laboratory-based research often obtained from a postdoctoral program.
A Research Fellow at Mayo Clinic is a temporary position intended to provide training and education in research.
