Description :
Operates radiology equipment to produce radiographic images of the body for diagnostic purposes.
Positions radiologic equipment and adjusts controls to set exposure time and distance according to examination specifications.
Takes x-rays following established requirements and regulations to ensure patient care and safety.
Retrieves radiologic orders and inputs related data into electronic medical records.
Prepares patients for radiologic procedures.
Escorts patients to the dressing and x-ray rooms, provides verbal and / or written instructions, and assists patients in positioning body parts to be radiographed.
Explains procedures to patients to reduce anxieties and obtain cooperation.
Positions patients on examining tables and adjusts positioning devices to obtain optimum views as requested by physicians.
Operates specialized equipment according to protocols under limited supervision.
Provides patient care within a broad range of health care needs in various settings.
Moves radiographic equipment into specified positions and adjusts controls based on knowledge of techniques and protocols.
Practices radiation protection techniques using beam restrictive devices and patient shielding.
Obtains acceptable radiologic images using CR / DR techniques and protocols.
Ensures operation of radiology equipment by completing maintenance requirements, troubleshooting malfunctions, and maintaining inventories.
Reports equipment malfunctions to the appropriate personnel.
Maintains examination rooms and stocks necessary medical and radiologic supplies.
Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection control policies and protocols.
Supports department goals through personal improvements and educational activities.
Maintains professional standards in accordance with recommended practice standards.
Assists with monitoring the patient’s level of moderate sedation in conjunction with procedures.
Initiates additional patient comfort measures as appropriate.
Ensures informed consent has been obtained from patients prior to procedures.
Actively participates in the Universal Protocol for all invasive procedures.
Demonstrates independent judgment in planning sequences of operations and making minor decisions.
Works directly with patients and / or customers and collaborates with co-workers.
Displays a positive attitude, is self-motivated, and dependable.
Demonstrates ethical and professional behaviors at all times.
Possesses basic computer skills and is capable of wearing lead aprons for extended periods.
